: The MenagerieDelightful Peach
Today I said to Matthew, "I feel like my life is divided into three areas: work, Peach, and home. And I can do the first two, but I'm out of energy for the last." Our house is a disaster, I'm always too tired to cook, and I don't even know where the checkbook is - a problem given the stack of bills that have to be paid. (In fairness, I spent a lot of time this weekend on the house, and even decorated the house for Christmas for the first time since 2004 or 2005. I can't recall.)
Work is work, and is mostly unbloggable and dealing with the worst sorts of things one human being can do to another. My vocabulary is always expanding, but never in a good way. Litigation is litigation, and motions practice is motions practice: there is always work, but I am getting pretty good at not thinking about it when I am at home.
But Peach? Peach rocks. She is so much fun, and even the temper tantrums tend to crack me up. She is strong-willed and independent, and I love it. I love that she understands us when we ask her to do things, and that she babbles to us as though we can understand her. (It's like my extremely rusty German - I catch about one in ten words.) She prefers my books to hers, and will gently turn the pages and babble to herself. She loves to dance and spin around and clap her hands. I watched a TiVo'd 120 Minutes while I decorated the tree (I couldn't find the cable to play my iPod's holiday list, so I gave in to temptation) and got the biggest kick out of her dancing along to The Church and REM.
She is so much fun!
I really love that she will clean up after herself: she will put things up on shelves or counters and will put toys back in boxes or bins. She always wants to wash her hands and wipe up counters with napkins. It cracks me up.
On a whim, I bought her a Rody Horse at Green Frog Toys - and oh, it is so hilarious to see her with this thing. She loves the horse and despite multiple spills (she is maybe a wee bit too short/uncoordinated for it yet) she will bounce on that thing and burn up hundreds of calories at a go. Heck, I burn calories just watching her. Best toddler toy purchse yet!
