In Canada Spousal Sponsorship Interview

By immlawyer

ADVERTISEMENTS

I was meeting with a couple who had submitted an "In Canada" spousal sponsorship.

A full interview has been scheduled for this week, and I was trying to impart the various concerns of the immigration officer.

While one cannot predict all the questions that might be asked, it's certain that the immigration officer will canvass issues surrounding the genesis, development and evolution of the relationship. There will also be questions to ensure that the individuals are in fact living together. This may take the form of 'what size is your TV in your living room' to 'what colour is your sofa/carpet/etc'. The couple is generally questioned separately.

Having observed a number of such interviews, most couples are invariably nervous and preparation for this relatively invasive proceeding is almost always a good idea.
