?Expelled? from Cohen Milstein, Name Partner to Strike Out on His Own

On Friday, Michael Hausfeld, name partner of Cohen, Milstein, Hausfeld & Toll, sent around a firm e-mail saying that he’d been “expelled” from the firm, which he described as “abrupt and unceremonious.” Here’s the report from AmLaw Daily’s Andrew Longstreth.

Hausfeld, who was the head of Cohen Milstein’s antitrust group, is launching his own firm, Hausfeld LLP, to handle “competition and other complex litigation,” according to the e-mail.

Cohen Milstein name partner Steven Toll confirmed to AmLaw Daily that Hausfeld (pictured) had left the firm, but declined to comment further. He said that a “certain number” of Cohen Milstein lawyers will join Hausfeld at his new firm.
