When I started this little corner of the internet I was kind of just opening a little place to talk. To myself of course. Nothing screams "normal law student behavior" than starting a blog on which to bitch & moan & complain about your classmates, your workload, your dumb stupid (expensive) law school, your writing assignments, your reading assignments, oh my goodness how did I end up here? In law school? With, gulp, only a few friends.

I've made it no secret that I went to law school with the idea that I was, if nothing else, way cooler than the rest of my first year class. And I was served a few scoops of humility along the way (that first semester C on the report card is nothing less than a slap of "Shut the hell up Daisy" & deservedly so) and met a few people but realized, ultimately, that I was a little lonely. A little lost. I went from a small-big-city that I loved (oh New Orleans...I pine for you...) to a big-big city. That I still wasn't sure how I felt. Yeah I loved the gourmet grocery store a few blocks away, and the lake is certainly breath taking, but man was this city big. And my friends, as wonderful as they were & are, were mostly attached to a significant other, of which I had none. My best friend was in her first year of medical school and if there is anything harder to coordinate, it is quality phone time with a law & medical school student.

So I started a blog. A free blogger account, a blank page, and voila. Here I was. A blogger!  I started writing. When I go through  my archives I mostly cringe, because man, my writing "voice" can be sort of annoying. And run-on-sentencey. A few entries make me laugh, the whole time of studying for the bar might very well be deleted because it just injects stress hormones straight into my brain, and here I am. Entries. Words. Stories. The beginning of my relationship with BISMOW, the outing of him as the Wayward Esquire, friendships, relationships, classes, struggles & triumphs.

And then, somewhere along the way I realized I wasn't writing to an invisible audience. There are people out there that stop by this corner for amusement or, um, yeah, amusement. Because I sure as hell have no good advice (other than my usual mantra of "Don't Make Out With Your Graduate School Classmates") and I doubt any of you hurt your tendon studying for the bar exam (but if you did, I have an awesome stretching exercise for you!) but you come anyway. You leave comments & ask questions & read books and guys, I kind of love you for it. Sometimes I get stressed, thinking that I have nothing funny to say, the funny has run out but then, usually, something happens. Something that I can mock or laugh at or just admit, sheesh I really am a klutz.

Along the way I've made some friends, and met new people, and my next trip to New Orleans is going to contain some serious face-to-face blogger meetings because some of these writers have become as dear to me as my "real life" friends & family. I've also found my long-lost-twin, Katie at Overflowing Brain because honestly, who knew two people could have so many weird things in common? Like sacral dimples & broken backs & stomach problems & a love of baking & poodles from California. WHO KNEW? And NOLAnotes and Lanny have little girls that I just want to eat they are so delicious & cute. And all of the legal bloggers out there, you guys give me hope & a feeling of whew, I'm not in this alone. Law school sucks this badly for all of us, and together, we can pass the bar & find jobs, top 10% of our class be damned.

I've kept writing because now I feel like I have an audience. A small one, but a cute one, and hey, the guy who was threatening me got his IP address blocked & since then, times have been merry. So I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who read and make this corner of the internet a lot of fun. Because nothing is better than laughing at your busted self than having a few people laugh along with you.
