: court-o-rama.orgMisdemeanor or Prosecutorial Gymnophobia?
By Anne Skove, Esq.
Must we all wear cutoffs like Tobias Funke, whose gymnophobia was so severe he wore Daisy Dukes even in the shower?
Don't answer that. We were just wondering because a Miami-Dade Circuit judge resigned after being accused of exposing himself in a Starbucks bathroom stall. That's like streaking in the shower.
It's all moot anyway -- the judge had lost his re-election bid and would have been stepping down in January.
So why write about it? Is there any redeeming value in retelling this story? Will it stop one sitting judge from flashing his neighbor in the restroom? Will it inspire, bring tears to your eyes, or put a song in your heart?
Nope. But these types of stories get the most hits. That's right -- a court administrator behaving badly, a defendant mooning the jurors -- we know our audience (thanks to tracking tools), and you're not pretty.
See Accused of Indecent Exposure, Miami-Dade Judge Resigns, David Ovalle, Miami Herald (October 17, 2008). Thanks (of sorts) to Wonkette (via Tom, who made me visit that trashy blog twice in one day!) for the news about this interesting development.
