By Norman Gregory Fernandez, Esq.
WOODLAND HILLS, California - A teenage pedestrian and a driver died, and at least one other person was injured in a collision involving three cars in Woodland Hills on Wednesday.
The incident occurred about 5 p.m. in the 20700 block of Ventura Boulevard, near De Soto Avenue, said LAPD spokeswoman Officer Karen Smith.
The fatally injured pedestrian may have been trying to cross the street, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
LAPD officers shut down both sides of Ventura just east of De Soto, resulting in severely congested traffic at rush hour as authorities conducted an investigation and waited for coroner’s officials to arrive.
The pedestrian’s body, covered by a white sheet, remained in the street hours after the crash, a few yards away from a shoe and a spilled soft drink cup. A woman sat on a bench and cried nearby.
The other victim died after being transported from the scene to a local hospital.
The extent of the third crash victim’s injuries was not immediately available, and it was unclear whether he or she was in a car or on foot.
Police gave no details about how the collision occurred Wednesday night.
