Judge Paul Backman has worn many hats.  County Court Judge, Chief Criminal Judge for Broward's Circuit Court, denizen of Repeat Offender Court (ROC), Chief Judge candidate, Mayor of Hugh's Cafe, and, most recently, Judicial Qualifications Commission panel member (JQC).He has also served as mentor to many a new judge.  Typically wide-eyed and terrified, plucked from civil practice and thrust into the middle of the assembly lines that are Broward's criminal courts, Paul is always there to answer their questions, day or night.One such former newbie was none other than divorce lawyer Ana Gardiner.  For those who weren't around at the time, Gardiner was tied at the hip to Paul in her formative judicial years.  Where he went, she was...continue to full post
