Time Flies By

ADVERTISEMENTS
It's astonishing to think that just about a year ago I was a litigation virgin, it seems like an absolute eternity since that entry and the anxiety about my first trial. I got to thinking about this today because I have a DUI trial tomorrow at my internship, it's just a court trial and the defense attorney is stipulating to all of the test results coming in. The only that is contested is whether or not the defendant was actually driving, so in other words it's pretty boring as far as a DUI trial goes.

When I found out that the trial was "just a court trial" and that I wouldn't even have to go through the motions of laying foundation for exhibits I was totally bummed out. A year ago I would have been psyched just to do a trial. But now, a year after my very first court experience, and a few more trials later, I've totally become a litigation snob. I only want the fun trials, the trials where I get to practice getting evidence in, qualifying experts, and picking jurors. Rather than being totally confident in knowing that I can walk into the courtroom with very little prep and do a good job, I want to be scared. What the heck is wrong with me?
