This is a nutty week in a nutty month.  Rule 21 hearing this morning (our case remains alive, hooray), three days of depositions, Tuesday through Thursday, count 'em, all while getting ready for a civil sex abuse case in a not-terribly-close county in two weeks.

Aiee.  And it's a busy motions practice month on top of that. REALLY busy.  I am a paper generating, motion drafting, production processing queen.

In other, more pleasant news, Peach spontaneously started grabbing wads of TP and trying to blow her nose.  I can't begin to count how many times I wished she could blow her nose over the last 16 months, and I am prouder of this than if she spontaneously recited Prospero's speech (which would be a neat trick, given her current five-ten word vocabulary).  I am happy to get rid of all infantile snot-sucking devices and let her have at it.

Frankly, I don't know what to make of her verbal skills: she understands a lot and will follow complex instructions.  She will sometimes talk in complex (nonsense) words, complete with some sort of sentence structure. She acts as though we should understand her.  But her "real" vocabulary is pretty small: dog, mama, dada, more, hi, bye, and some words that mean "more" (it comes out "mah-mah-mah-mah," which is confusing for the obvious reason).  I think there is a word that means "down", which comes out "dah-dah-dah," which is equally confusing.  Today she started saying "me" in the sense of "give that to me," which would be a big leap ahead of the pointing and shrieking that has previously served that purpose, but she's supposed to be working on nouns, not pronouns, so maybe it means something else.
