The Election Protection Network, a coalition of dozens of groups that includes the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights, the National Bar Association and People for the American Way, is gearing up for November by amassing a large force of volunteer legal experts to answer calls at a national voter hotline (1-866-OUR-VOTE or 1-866-687-8683) and visit polling locations across the country to aid voters who encounter problems.

But the coalition's National Campaign for Fair Elections still needs more volunteers in every state, including pro-bono attorneys, law students, paralegals and election integrity activists. If you can help, sign up at the group's web site. This is not a sign-up to become a poll worker (that is, workers who help administer elections) but to become a poll watcher or observer to ensure that everything goes as it should go on election day and that both voters and poll workers are cognizant of election laws.

The group is also asking voters who experience problems to call its hotline or submit their story to its web site.

The web site includes a state-by-state directory of information on polling locations for voters who may be uncertain about where they should go to cast their ballot on November 4th.
