Education Reform: Mayor Rudy Giuliani

Mayor Rudy Giuliani?s plan for education reform focuses solely around school choice. He calls for a federal voucher program, modeled after Washington, DC, Cleveland & Milwaukee. The Mayor also advocates the expansion of charter schooling, and providing parents of students with special needs the opportunity to seek placement in private schools through IDEA funding.

The Mayor does not articulate (at least on his website) where the excellent teachers for the charter schools will come from. In further contrast from the Democratic candidates (and by no means endorsing any particular candidate or plan), below, no mention is made of access to pre-K education, rising college costs, or the achievement gap (a particular problem in NYC).
