The head of the San Diego County Public Defender's Office is retiring in March, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported. (here)
Steven Carroll, became the county's public defender in 1996, plans to volunteer at a nonprofit group trying to set up law firms to defend the indigent in other countries, according to the Union-Tribune.
