: Legal Pad | LAChristensen Glaser changes its name after wiretap conviction
By Jason Siegel
Christensen, Glaser, Fink, Jacobs, Weil & Shapiro has changed its
name to Glaser, Weil, Fink, Jacobs & Shapiro after its managing
partner, Terry Christensen, was convicted on wiretapping charges.
On Aug. 29, a federal jury found Christensen guilty of conspiracy to commit wiretapping and aiding and abetting a wiretap. Federal prosecutors had alleged that Christensen paid private investigator Anthony Pellicano more than $100,000 to wiretap Lisa Bonder Kerkorian, the ex-wife of his client, billionaire Kirk Kerkorian, in a high-profile child custody dispute.
Both Christensen and Pellicano, who was convicted on charges of conspiracy to commit wiretapping and wiretapping, could face up to 10 years in prison.
Christensen's sentencing hearing is on Nov. 17. He plans to appeal his conviction.
In a statement released on Thursday, Christensen, who has been managing partner since the Los Angeles-based firm was founded in 1988, said he was confident about the firm's future and that he "will be withdrawing from the practice of law."
Name partners Peter Weil and Barry Fink will become co-managing partners of Glaser Weil.
