Clemency Hearing in Georgia

"Jack Alderman to get clemency hearing Tuesday," is the title of Bill Rankin's report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.The state Board of Pardons and Paroles on Monday agreed to hold a new clemency hearing for Jack Alderman, just hours after a judge ordered a stay of the condemned killer?s execution. The five-member parole board will allow Alderman?s lawyers to present evidence at a hearing Tuesday morning, said board spokeswoman Scheree Lipscomb. Alderman, 57, is scheduled to be put to death by lethal injection Tuesday at 7 p.m. for the 1974 killing of his wife, Barbara, at their home just outside Savannah. With the help of a friend, Alderman bludgeoned his wife with a crescent wrench, choked her, and then put her underwater in a bathtub, prosecutors said...continue to full post
