Barry Zito

Fascinating piece about Giants pitcher Barry Zito in the New York Times Play magazine this weekend.  I like Barry Zito.  He's always seemed very human, for a baseball player.  I hope he bounces back next season.  Although I probably won't bet my fantasy baseball team on it.  The piece is a good read regardless of whether you like baseball.

I also wanted to link to this LA Times piece about cellphones in movies and TV, written by my friend Zach.  It's a really solid piece.  He's also interviewed on NPR this weekend about the piece, link here (last ten minutes of this week's podcast).  I was very impressed with the interview -- he did a lot better than I felt like I did when I did a radio interview about Anonymous Lawyer.

And, just as I was posting this, I see in the news that David Foster Wallace hanged himself last night.  Gosh.  I liked his writing.  Haven't read any of his fiction, but the non-fiction stuff.  Really solid.  Unfortunate news.
