: PrawfsInformation Wants to Be Free, Part II: The Law Reviews
By Dan Markel, Ethan Leib, Rick Garnett, Matt Bodie, Paul Horwitz , Steve Vladeck, and Orly Lobel
Just a quick update and a new thread. First, it seems like there's no need to create a Wiki that's separate from Prawfs for the law school hiring info. One advantage of having it here is that we have a wide readership of actual prawfs and they can actually post information as much as wannabees can. If there were a separate page, we'd lose the likely contributions of prawfs who are less likely to migrate there. These prawfs can also perhaps serve to counter any disinformation campaigns...but hopefully that won't be necessary. Second, one of the wannabees I know has generously offered to aggregate the information on a regular basis, probably once a week or more. His/her info appears today under the Pro Bono Publico moniker. So this should make it relatively easy to keep track of what's going on, and we can easily create a new thread or move it to the front as time progresses. Despite the potential negative impact some might feel as a result of having this info circulate, I agree with another prawf I just spoke to about the thread's democratizing effects. Most of the Climenkos and Bigelow's etc have access to this info b/c they already share it amongst themselves; to the extent it's an advantage, it is info whose absence disparately affects (in a negative way) the moneylaw candidates without access to elite mentoring and lots of shared info sources. That's worth something to my mind...
Second, it appears to me that there are some other info-sharing threads that are worthwhile. The one I start below here is about law reviews. Some of this info is available on Expresso, but most of it is not. Hence, it would be really good to know a) when law reviews began accepting submissions, b) whether they have filled up their volume yet, and c) what kind of expedite deadlines they are offering.
I hope others will share this info in the comments below.
