East Cleveland Sues Former Mayor and Businessman

By Cleveland Law Library

ADVERTISEMENTS

The City of East Cleveland has sued its former Mayor, Emmanuel Onunwor, and a local businessman named Nathaniel Gray, in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court for $14 million in damages the City claims it lost over a Water Department contract. The suit follows on the heels of both men's convictions on charges of racketeering and other claims. An article on cleveland.com quotes the current East Cleveland Mayor as saying the contract at issue "smelled like a back-door, no-bid contract." The docket in the new case can be found under Case No. CV-08-669055 on the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court's online case management system.
