Here in Wisconsin, it is not uncommon to refer to Madison as ten square miles surrounded by reality. Every so often, something happens that confirms this. Most recently, certain members of Madison's city government have shown that they are in denial about the fact that Wisconsin voters really have amended the state constitution to preserve the traditional definition of marriage.
