Hamline Univesity School Of Law

By Chuck Newton

ADVERTISEMENTS

Even all of the way down here in Texas, I know a very good lawyer who graduated from Hamline University School of Law.  And, now even though he is most of the time in California, his daughter decided to attend Hamline.

Why?

Visit Two reasons that I understand.  One, because of the family history, the family was comfortable in knowing the opportunities that a Hamline education would bring.  Two, they gave her an amazing scholarship.

Located in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis / St. Paul in Minnesota, the winters would probably a little colder than I would like, but the area around the Mississippi, Minnesota and St. Croix rivers is nice.  The law school falls in the 16th-largest metropolitan area in the country, with an estimated population of 3.5 people.  This means that you would have almost all of the amenities you would need, and it is probably easier to find work if you need to work during law school.  The Twin Cities is rich in arts and entertainment.

Hamline Law is a private law school affiliated with Hamline University in Saint Paul.  It was founded in 1972 as the Midwestern School of Law and in 1976 Hamline acquired the law school as its own.  Hamline is one of the smallest universities that support a law school.  The University has a total population of 4,600 including the law school and all graduate programs.  Founded in 1854 the University is considered one of the elite institutions in Minnesota.  It is affiliated with the United Methodist Church.

The law school is known for its ADR program and its international law program.  Interestingly, Hamline Law is ranked in the top ten law schools in the country to provide a welcoming atmosphere for older students.  The law school is one of the few in the Country that has a part-title weekend program.  That is so beneficial to those who need to work and raise families while they try to improve their lives and education.  This program alone is worth looking at Hamline.

Admittedly the tuition is a little steep at $15,048 per semester, but as stated previously, the law school grants many generous scholarships to help offset this burden.

So the review, it is a law school worth considering, and this especially true if you need a flexible weekend program in order to attend law school.
