Ventura Drug Possession Charges Fail to Land Hells Angels Biker in Jail

According to a recent press release, former Hells Angels leader George Christie Jr. pleaded guilty in Superior Court this week to misdemeanor being under the influence of a controlled substance and felony drug possession in Ventura, but will do no jail time. As part of an agreement with authorities, Christie will participate in a drug treatment program. Proposition 36, approved by California voters in 2000, allows those convicted of some nonviolent drug offenses to receive probation in lieu of a prison sentence. In return, defendants must participate and complete a certified drug treatment program.
