Tax Holiday This Weekend

By Massachusetts Trial Court Law Libraries

ADVERTISEMENTS
This weekend, August 16-17, is a "tax holiday" during which you don't have to pay sales tax on most items under $2500. See the text of the law, St.2008, c.211, for specifics on what is excluded.

And if the crowds are too much for you, remember that a 5% sale any other time of year will actually save you more money than not paying 5% tax that weekend. For example, a $100 item at 5% off, plus tax, will come to $99.75, whereas the same $100 item with no 5% tax will cost $100.
