Die Welt ist eine Google. Die Kartierung der Erde schreitet voran. Unaufhaltsam scannen die Mitarbeiter des Internetgiganten aus Mountain View Straßenzüge und Häuserfronten, um sie dann wieder in Länder und Kontinente zusammenzusetzen. Jeder, der im Internet unterwegs ist und Google besucht, soll alles über die Welt wissen.
Google Earth hat jetzt ein sprachliches Pendant bekommen. Wieder geht es um die Erde, doch dieses Mal sind die Bewohner populäre Begriffe. So ähnlich muss sich der Nutzer das neueste Angebot des Unternehmens vorstellen. Google Insights for Search heißt die neueste Welterfassungsmaschine. ?Sie ist eine deutliche Weiterentwicklung von Google Trends?, sagte Stefan Keuchel, Sprecher von Google Deutschland. ?Trends war nur eine Spielerei, Insights for Search wertet Daten viel genauer aus, gerade auch für Deutschland.?
