Luck

ADVERTISEMENTS
This recent post over at Ana's reminded me of a quote a friend of mine shared with me by Garrison Keillor:

"Some luck lies in not getting what you thought you wanted but getting what you have, which once you have got it you may be smart enough to see is what you would have wanted had you known."

I've realized lately that I'm a little too ungrateful when it comes to a lot of things, I never value what I have, I always want something that I don't have. I've always thought that wanting something more is what drives me, what keeps me going through all of my crazy adventures. But what's the use of always heading for something more if you never stop to apperciate what you have and what you have accomplished along the way?

I definitely have goals, lots of them, and I know that I will never reach a point in my life where everything is checked off. That would be boring. Even if I do make it to the end of the "life goal to-do list" I know there will always be another great adventure that can be added. But what I'm making priority number 1 on the "life to-do list" is trying to remember to take a step back and apperciate what I have right now at this moment- learning to be happy with each and every day that I am given instead of always being bitter that I don't have something more.
