Insomnia.

ADVERTISEMENTS

About one (1) night every two (2) or three (3) weeks, I am unable to sleep. Dunno why, just can’t. I’ll sprawl out in bed, toss and turn, stare at the ceiling, bury my face in a pillow, anything to try and find sleep…. but no dice. Tonight is one of those nights. What’s really un-fun is that when I can’t sleep I am actually very tired, so there is no point in studying, or trying to work on any papers or outlines. I wouldn’t really remember what I learned the next day. So I read lots of inconsequential things to try and pass the time until it’s either day time, and time to be productive again, or until I finally feel sleepy.

Tonight I read the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego had sold their campus in Old Town and were building a new campus Downtown. So… TJ Law is slowly moving South. I suspect that by 2050 TJ Law will be a location appropriate name.

I also read a lot of stuff about UC San Diego. That was the first university I went to when I was out of high school, so I have fond memories of the place. I was an anthropology and history major. I regret not graduating from there. Don’t get me wrong, UMass Boston has my undying loyalty for getting me in and out and into law school, but you’re always partial to your first, right?

I was an NCAA student-athlete at UC San Diego (Go Tritons!). One very interesting thing I learned is that in 1968, California Western played a football game against UC San Diego. Cal Western won. Of course, this was when California Western University existed, before the law school split from the undergraduate CWU which turned into USIU and then Alliant University. But still, I thought it was kind of interesting to see that at one point UCSD and C-dub played an NCAA football game against one another

Since UC San Diego doesn’t have an NCAA football team, and Cal Western is not an NCAA school (for obvious reasons), I propose a friendly rematch. I volunteer to be the punter/kicker for Cal Western. I predict a score of: Otter Bees 35 - Tritons 21.

I also did some reading on a peculiar rumor that is making its way through my friends. I tracked down some historical information and now have some interesting ideas. History might be repeating itself. San Diego is an interesting place to be in law school right now, that’s for sure.
