: Jeremy Blachman's Brand New WeblogVery Boring Democratic Debate
By jeremyblachman
Much too civil. The candidates were all pleasant to each other, well prepared, and have basically no differences between them on any of the issues. The only funny line didn't even get noticed by anyone, and no one's reporting on it. Obama on guns: "We essentially have two realities, when it comes to guns, in this country. You've got the tradition of lawful gun ownership, that all of us saw, as we travel around rural parts of the country. And it is very important for many Americans to be able to hunt, fish, take their kids out, teach them how to shoot. And then you've got the reality of 34 Chicago public school students who get shot down on the streets of Chicago."
Fish?
Those must be some big fish!
In all seriousness, none of the candidates seemed to make any mistakes or say anything noteworthy. I much prefer debates where people attack each other. Also, negative ads are so much better than these pledges people make to run a positive campaign. I like negative ads.
