: Legal Pad | LASan Diego grand jury calls to clarify job of city attorney's office

The San Diego County grand jury recommended that the job of the city attorney's office be clarified and put to voters, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
They pointed to a city committee's review of the City Charter section on the role of the city attorney that found the city attorney's client needed to be defined as local residents or the municipal government.
They also recommended placing deputy city attorneys in classified civil service to ensure employment stability. The mayor and city council will respond to the recommendations at San Diego Superior Court by Sept. 2.
