: Eastern District of Texas Federal Court Practice"Art at Work": June/July 2008 featured artist Mary Norvell
By Michael Smith
Mary is originally from Louisiana and now has a studio in the Marshall Visual Arts Center, where she can be reached at 903-407-1231. Her work is also on display the Third Floor Gallery at the Weisman Building at 211 North Washington (patent practitioners will recognize that as the location of the coffee and sandwich shop just past the wine store). Mary does watercolors, etchings, mixed media and sculpture, including our first sculpture on display (seen in the photo - haven't gotten a stand for it yet).
Mary's work on display consist of seven large and three small paintings, plus one mixed media sculpture. The nine pieces on display in our reception area are of a subject commonly found in Mary's work - angels and cherubs - with many of the angels recognizable (to local viewers) as the well-known angel sculptures at the cemetery in Scottsville (including several of the famous "weeping angel")
I do not yet have a listing of the names of the pieces on display - as soon as I do I'll add it to this post.
Once again, the "Art at Work" program we've developed is by no means proprietary
and I encouraged anyone and everyone to feel free to adopt it in your
office to promote your local arts community - click here Download art_at_work_proposal.pdf for the guidelines we developed.
