Rock ?N Ride Plush Rocker Toys recalled due to fall hazard

35 incidents reported

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall for Rock ?N Ride Plush Rocker Toys because of a potential fall hazard. The rockers are manufactured by Tek Nek Toys Int?l L.P., of Southlake, Texas, and 35 incidents of falls were reported. Ten of those reports included injuries of small children.

The recalled rockers? bases can become unstable, leading to the rocker tipping forward or backward. This can be a potential fall hazard for small children. About 122,000 of the rockers, meant for children over 18 months and up to 65 pounds, were recalled.

Eight models of the Rock ?N Ride Plush Rocker Toys are included in the recall:

  • pink pony,
  • brown pony,
  • lil? penguin,
  • lil? propeller plane,
  • deluxe pony,
  • pink unicorn,
  • deluxe bull, and
  • Clifford the big red dog rocker.

All of the recalled rockers have a plastic base and have a date code from July 26, 2007 through December 29, 2007, located on a sticker inside the battery compartment.

The recalled rockers, manufactured in China, were sold from September 2007 through March 2008 over the internet and at Wal-Mart, Target, Atwoods, Pamida, Kmart, and Toys ?R? Us stores for about $30.

The CPSC advises consumers to take the rockers away from children and contact Tek Nex Toys for a free replacement base. Tek Nek Toys can be contacted at 1-888-686-2728 or at www.teknektoys.com. The CPSC can also be contacted at 1-800-638-2772.
