It Confuses Me

That in the coffee shop by my work two of the employees have a British accent...sometimes. And sometimes they have an American accent.

This is odd, no?

That's what I thought. I'm glad the internet is behind me on this one.

In the meantime I'm searching my inner soul for the uplifting! the funny! the satirical! and all I'm coming up with is woefully unemployed! $150,000 in debt! law school is over priced and underrated! i have no job!

But I am excited for my family to come out for graduation this weekend. Anytime we have a chance to mix the WASPy-Southern side of the family (think seersucker suits, sweet tea by the gallon and lots of "ya'lls") with the folks from California (think tall blonde and hip + one batshit crazy Grandma) means I'm sure to have some good stories. I'm trying to convince my Mother that sitting the two Grandmother's next to each other will be worth it for the sheer comedic value (batshit crazy Grandmother can discuss the virtues of polyester shorts while the other Grandmother tries to turn the conversation back to the latest 9000 page tome she has card-cataloged into one of her two libraries) but my Mother is so not going for it. In fact she has made a list of "linking" people, who belong to one side or the other but are good natured enough to sit in the "linking" seats between to the two families. So far we have my Aunt Awesome and BISMOW. We arn't sure if BISMOW is really a linking person but we figure that we can throw him to wolves to fend off questions regarding impending marriage proposals, his family's political views, and his thoughts on the South (which according to one part of the family had better be fairly positive or else I'll forever be labeled "the Granddaughter that dated a Yankee").

So I guess what I'm saying is I'm fairly certain the comedic value will be back in the near future, complete with family! drama! and seersucker! and BISMOW being very uncomfortable for four days straight! especially when Papa Duke starts pouring bourbon down his throat!
