On December 18, 2007, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled about 3,000 Specialized Bicycle helmets because the helmets failed testing required by the commission.
In 1999, the CPSC issued new safety standards for bike helmets aimed at providing one uniform safety standard for all bike helmets. The CPSC recall notice about Specialized Bicycle helmets does not specify which standards the helmets failed.
Recalled Specialized Bicycle helmets were sold at stores nationwide between July 2007 and October 2007 for about $200. The recall involves model 2D, which has ?2D? printed on the back.
Consumers should stop using recalled bike helmets immediately, and contact Specialized Bicycles for a free replacement or a full refund. The company?s phone number is 1-877-808-8154.
