Volvo recalls almost 39,000 vehicles

mpaired visibility risk, inadequate labeling to blame

On December 19, 2007, Volvo Cars of North America recalled 38,695 of its 2008 Volvo XC70 and 2007-2008 Volvo XC90 vehicles, some due to inadequate labeling and some due to a safety risk.

The wheel information label on the 2008 Volvo XC70 does not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 120; the label was printed without the wheel size information.

The 2007 and 2008 Volvo XC90 sport utility vehicles? climate control module may receive a ?shut-down signal? after the ignition key is inserted. This means climate control functions, like the defroster, will not work during that driving cycle, which could impair visibility and create a safety risk. Owners may contact Volvo at 1-800-458-1552.
