So. This whole "not having a job offer" really sucks. But in an effort to not be a big ball of disappointed resentment, I have decided I must look at the positives. My job offered me an amazing experience that even some licensed attorney's don't get until their fourth or fifth year. My boss has been an extraordinary mentor and really given me a lot of freedom & trust over the last year. As soon as I got the bad news from the higher ups that be (and for the record it was determined that due to the market they aren't taking anyone on....) I started emailing and calling everyone I knew in the legal profession. I now have calls in just about everywhere and more lunches and meet & greets set up than I'm going to have time for. The defense counsel(s) for the huge trial in December have all made time to set up an appointment with me to talk, my boss is making calls, some other partners and associates at the firm are making calls, and older-attorney friends in other offices are making calls. I have my resume in the pile for judicial clerkships here in the Big City and luckily for me my office has some good connections over there, and has told me that they are happy to help me in any way possible. I have also contacted all my Professors who have written me letters of recommendation and after their initial shock that I didn't get a job, they too are making calls. I'm not sure who all these people are calling other than reputable firms that would be "lucky to have me".....

So for a bad situation I think I'm sitting about as "pretty" as I can.

And last night I went out and drank entirely too much. And today I'm going shopping with Anonymous Hottie, Eddie & HASWOE and I plan on fully enjoying myself. And on Monday I'm going to go to the office and print off about 100 copies of my resume on nice cream Crane paper using their supplies.

As for not walking out yesterday...I was given the option to do so. I declined and informed Mr. BPLF that the only result of that would by my attorney would be left in a bad situation and that I had projects that had to be finished. I also reminded Mr. BPLF that I'm working on something that will most likely end up before the Supreme Court of the United States for him and that he probably didn't want me rushing to finish it in a few hours. He agreed. And I'll get to leave my mark on history if it all goes as planned. Which isn't too bad of an exit if you ask me.
