Due to a deadly broiler explosion on one of its ships, Norwegian Cruise Line Ltd. has agreed to plead guilty to gross negligence. Eight crewmembers were killed and 10 others injured in the explosion in May 2003. The cruise line is liable for at least $500,000 in criminal penalties and has agreed to carry out safety inspections of its vessels with an independent consultant.
