OAKLAND, California -- The jury deliberating the Hans Reiser murder trial left the courthouse here about 3:15 p.m. Pacific time Thursday, its second full day of deliberations.

The panel is charged with deciding the fate of the Linux programmer, who is accused of killing his wife, Nina Reiser. The woman, who was divorcing her husband, was last seen at his house in the Oakland hills on Sept. 3, 2006. She dropped off the estranged couple's two young children to stay with their father the Labor Day weekend and has never been seen since.

The 44-year-old developer of the ReiserFS filesystem claims his wife left Oakland for Russia, where the pair met in 1998 while he was overseas hiring programmers for his Namesys software company. He claims his 31-year-old wife fled to her home country after he accused her of embezzling from Namesys.

The jury is to resume deliberations here Monday. The 12-member panel will not meet Friday. The panel asked to review a some of the 215 exhibits Thursday. They were not made public.
