My colleague Brian Leiter offered an excellent discussion on April 18 of the John Yoo controversy. I must say I find it compelling in explaining why he is indeed entitlted to benefit from valuable principles of academic freedom. The same principles that protect Yoo certainly protect any of his colleagues who wish to criticizie--indeed, to denounce--him, but not to strip him of his employment at Berkeley.
