I remember once during 1L year my three roomies and I had a big discussion about pre-nups. One roomie was vaguely for, one was firmly for (I forget her reason, it was "to protect yourself" or "to be responsible" or something), and my homegirl Kristin and I were in the anti camp, agreeing that we would be insulted if asked to sign one. I also find them kind of a wealthy person's game, and also quite frequently a tool to keep wives of rich dudes 'in check' - so yeah, I'm sure they're fine for some people, I just don't associate good things with them.
But I just remembered that Dan and I kind of do have a "prenup" - we have a ketubah, which is a Jewish wedding contract, that our friend who married us made as a present. Except ours is ultra-artistic and egalitarian, and instead of specifying that Dan has to give me food, clothing and sex or I can divorce him and get some cash (the original ketubah terms), it has drawings of places and things important to us, Hebrew, Spanish, and English love poetry, and words from our vows.
So I guess if I don't let him get a dog and he doesn't let me visit otters, we can get divorced. I'm not too worried.
Speaking of cash, Justin, Dan's Jeopardy BFF and Game 9 opponent, got paid on Friday. We're a little on edge.
