Apple Accuses NYC Of Ripping Off Its Logo - You Be The Judge

I tend to think that Apple is getting a little too big for its britches.

Apple Computer is  "challenging" the City of New York's travel and tourism office over its use of an apple logo based upon the city's nickname "The Big Apple".   It is running a campaign called "GreeNYC to convince New Yorkers to take steps to reduce greenhouse gases, and hired New York design firm Turf to designed a stylized apple,  which has been the symbol of NYC since well before Steve Jobs was born.  Apple claims that the GreeNYC mark is "likely to cause confusion, mistake or deception in the minds of consumers."

Engadget suggests that Tree Hugger and others are over-reacting in calling Steve Jobs and gang "arrogant", "farking stoopid", or suggesting that "Gwyneth Paltrow better rename that kid quick", as commenters in Advertising Age did.

Frankly, Steve Jobs and Apple should be ashamed of themselves.  They did not much appreciate it when Apple Corp. sued them stating the same reasons.  Now, New York, gets to spend taxpayer money to have lawyers review this and defend against these arguments.  Is this not just silly?

Look at these two different logos and you be the judge.  As for me, I have a stack of green apples as the current centerpiece on my table.  I better get rid of those before Apple "challenges" my right to do display them.

By the way, Apple owns the right to Newton.Com.  That is my name and I want it!  Oh God, Apple will probably sue me now for having the last name Newton.
