A Great Idea Out of a Terrible Tragedy - The Leiby Initiative

And now, for the flip side of my post two days ago about when bad laws come out of terrible crimes.  The Leiby Initiative....In the wake of the brutal murder of Leiby Kletzky in Brooklyn this week, Brooklyn Assemblyman Dov Hikind has introduced the Leiby Initiative.  The initiative proposes a $500 tax credit for New York city property owners who install and maintain surveillance cameras.  Most of you who followed the search for Leiby and his eventual discovery know by now that surveillance cameras are what lead authorities to Levi Aron, his confessed killer.  (Sorry - I just can't stomach saying alleged to this one).  The Daily News reported the story of the persistent and methodical work of Borough Park resident Yaakov German, who spent Tuesday morning seeking out and reviewing footage from security cameras along Leiby's presumed route...continue to full post
