: Northern Virginia Personal Injury LawyerBad Advice When Buying Virginia Car Insurance
By Ben Glass
Recently, I met with a young man in the National Guard who had been hurt in a serious Virginia accident. At the time of the incident, he was covered by his health insurance policy with the military.
Medical Payment Coverage
When I spoke with this gentleman, he had questions regarding medical payment coverage under his auto insurance policy. It turns out, his insurance agent made a few errors when advising him regarding what Virginia insurance coverage he needed. He wasn't informed that he could get a million dollars worth of coverage for little money. But that wasn't the only mistake his agent had made. When the young man had asked specifically about medical payment coverage, which would pay a portion of his medical bills, his agent told him he didn't need it because he had tri-care coverage.
The problem with this advice is that the young man did not make a lot of money. After his accident, he started incurring co-pays and deductibles. These charges quickly added up to $1,000. Not only did he rack up all of these medical debts, but he also couldn't work. It wasn't long before the debt collectors started to call him.
Don't Pay the Price for Bad Advice
Sadly, the insurance agent gave this young man bad advice and now he is the one who is paying the price. Before you buy car insurance, make sure you know what coverage is available and what you need to purchase.
