Legal Secretary Was a Ready Dispenser of Comfort and Love

Cyphers was also a great beauty.
You guys know I love obituaries, especially the ones that provide a personal glimpse into a life well-lived. New Jersey legal secretary, Ruth Endlar Cyphers, died on March 14, 2011 at the ripe old age of 91. Her obituary indicates she had the terrific communication skills required for successful legal support staffers, and was a cherished mom and grandma:

Ruth was an accomplished legal secretary and worked over the years for many attorneys in the Morris County, N.J., area. She also worked for the Salvation Army. She was an avid letter writer and champion speller, winning contests well into her 80s. She could play the piano by ear, a little known fact, and is remembered by her children and grandchildren as a ready dispenser of cinnamon toast and button candy.
I remember my grandmother as a ready dispenser of the most wonderful homemade oatmeal with raisins, and hand-knitted afghans I still cherish today. What did your grandmother readily dispense to comfort and love you?

Addendum:  What is button candy, you ask? I'm glad, because I didn't know either. I wondered if it was something homemade like my grandmother's divinity fudge, but it may actually have been those old-fashioned candy buttons on paper tape.
