Shareholder Activism in France

In a report by the Conference Board entitled, ?The Professionalization of Shareholder Activisim in France,? it discusses the evolution of shareholder activism in France.  The report concludes that shareholder activism ?in France is increasingly influenced by networks of hedge funds investors and other specialized players including proxy advisory firms and investor associations.?  As a result, ?these networks have professionalized the way shareholder activism is conducted in the country.?

 Moreover, recently there is an increase in the number of French investor associations that specialize in ?specific legal actions such as civil, criminal, or class actions.?  As such, investor associations such as l?Association Des Actionaires Minoritaires (ADAM) have been working with hedge fund activists to ?go beyond the short term and help to create value for all the shareholders.?
