Sniglar Cribs Recalled Due To Entrapment And Suffocation Hazards

By Jeffrey Downs

ADVERTISEMENTS

Parents of newborn children certainly have a large amount of homework when it comes to developing an appropriate action plan to baby-proof their home in an effort to keep their most valuable asset safe from injury. Yet, parents may often overlook that the products they purchase to keep their child safe may pose the greatest safety hazard in the home. Recently, IKEA Home Furnishings voluntarily recalled over 20,000 SNIGLAR cribs when it was discovered that these cribs pose a significant entrapment and suffocation hazard.

This recall involved SNIGLAR non-drop side, full size cribs with model number 60091931. The model number can be located on a label attached to the mattress support. The problem with the SNIGLAR cribs is that the four blots utilized to secure the mattress support are not long enough and could cause the entire mattress support to detach and collapse. A significant risk of entrapment and suffocation to a child in the crib could result. Consumers should stop using this crib immediately and go to www.idea-usa.com in order to learn how to appropriately address these hazards.

Purchasing products for your child can be a daunting task, however, the first step in your child safety action plan should include proper product research. It is imperative to research the desired product and constantly look to a trustworthy source to ensure that the product does not have a history of safety risks. When purchasing a crib for your child, a quick Internet search of the Consumer Product Safety Commission , Consumer Reports, and Healthy Children websites is a great place to start to determine the best product that meets your needs. Just like your child needs supervision to protect him or her from injuries that could occur in the home, supervision of the manufacturers of the products you plan to, and eventually do indeed, purchase is needed for the continued safety of your child.
