: Charlottesville Personal Injury LawyerCrib Safety: Graco Recalls 217,000 For Entrapment, Suffocation, and Strangulation Hazards
By Greg Webb
Graco has recalled 217,000 cribs that may be defective and entrap, suffocate, or strangle infants or toddlers, says the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The cribs are actually manufactured by LoJobi and branded by Graco. This makes the third major recall involving Graco this year. Graco recalled 1.5 million strollers in January and 1.2 million highchairs in March.
The recall concerns the "drop side" of wooden cribs. Faulty hardware may cause the drop side to separate from the crib, which in turn creates a gap where infants or toddlers can become wedged and trapped in the crib. The latter may lead to strangulation or suffocation.
Those who own these cribs should stop using them immediately and contact LaJobi's hotline at (888) 842-2215 to receive a free retrofit hardware kit. There have reportedly been approximately 99 complaints to the CPSC and LaJobi about the drop sides of these cribs.
