Follow up: After the FDIC took over the Douglass Bank and handed operation to Liberty Bank of New Orleans, the succeeding bank plans expansion. KC Business Journal. The New Orleans-based bank that will run Douglass National Bank said Monday that expansion is the first step in a national strategy.Liberty Bank & Trust Co. took control of Douglass on Monday after said in a prepared statement that the bank needs to have "a diverse and expansive portfolio and geographical reach."

Liberty also runs branches in Baton Rouge, La.; Jackson, Miss.; and Houston. The $327 million-asset bank earned $3.1 million during the first nine months of 2007, up 27 percent from the year-earlier period.

Douglass, founded in 1983, had two locations in Kansas City, Kan., and one in Kansas City
