: Build A Solo Practice, LLC"Tip of the Week" - Text to Voice Blog Posting. A Fad?
There is a new technology available for blog authors called Odiogo which will translate your written blog posts into audio as an option for your readers who would rather hear your blog post being read out loud instead of reading it themselves.
At first blush I thought it might be very exciting. Then I realized I'm a reader, a skimmer of blog posts and I 'hear' the author's voice in my head when I read. To hear a mechanical voice reading the post with the wrong inflection and going slower than I could read it out loud in my mind was very disconcerting. It also prolongs your time on the site when most of the readers I know go through a post rather rapidly.
But this is just my opinion. From a marketing perspective, giving your readers the option to either read your posts or listen to them may not be a bad thing.
For me, however, it was a thumbs down.
Now, if they come out with technology that allows me to dictate my blog posts and then converts them to text giving the reader the option to hear my blog posts in my voice rather than reading them...I could be interested.
Check out the demo and let me know if you like this mechanical voice which puts 'voice' to the written post.
