DOJ to Expand Obscenity Enforcement

By Alliance Defense Fund

ADVERTISEMENTS

U.S. Newswire is reporting a new obscenity indictment  by DOJ. The material is of an extreme nature, which is nearly all DOJ has been willing to prosecute during the term of the current chief of DOJ?s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section. Things are now about to change, I believe because Attorney General Gonzales does not wish to limit obscenity prosecutions to only the most extreme material according to the head of DOJ?s Criminal Division, Assistant Attorney General Alice Fischer. Also, the new head of DOJ?s Obscenity Prosecution Task Force, former U.S. Attorney Brent Ward, has a completely different philosophy for the prosecution of obscenity. He prosecuted many cases when he was the US Attorney for Utah. He knows that if DOJ only prosecutes the most extreme material then community standards become an "anything goes" standard, except the most extreme material. I trust the Attorney General, AAG Fischer and especially Brent Ward.
