So, in a different vein, I finally got off my butt this winter and did something. Not a full blown adventure, mind you, but I got out of the house. We took the kids to the local winter carnival where they sat on ice bears, rode down slides made of ice, ate hot dogs and jumped in a bouncy house. It is just about February and the light is about to change. The next four weeks are going to be okay but then March will be here. I know that will be 8 weeks of me being cranky. Crap, I wish we had the money to just get out of here for a week of two in March or April. Alas, I will just have to put up with it. We are gaining about 40 minutes a week of light so the change is incredibly dramatic. And while the rest of the world will be enjoying Spring, I will feel like I will be going insane from the never ending winter. Then BOOM! May will be here. Interns will arrive. Friends are coming up to do some gold panning. Fishing. Camping. Hiking. Yes, yes I know it is still January. Perhaps it is just the increased light messing with my head. But I can smell summer coming. Damn getting out of the house...it's got me all worked up!
