I saw a couple of related posts this morning. First was this nice post on the Kansas Federal Defender blog reporting on the closing of a Detroit police lab for, at least, incompetence. Professor Friedman also commented on the closure in this post on the Confrontation Blog, noting that it provides ample evidence of the need for cross-examination of what proseuctors want to call "routine" lab reports.
