Is It Really As Simple As Putting On Your Thinking Cap?

Really, the practice of law is all about using your noggin, is it not?  That is the reason that this caught my attention.  Lose or lessen your thoughts and your mental skills and you diminish as an attorney.

According to the Daily Mail these strange looking people have developed a thinking cap of sorts to turn back the symptoms of Alzheimer's.  It is a strange looking devise.  But, does it portend to do more and be more?

These gentlemen say that if you wear this headgear, which somehow baths the braid (through the skull) with infra-red light, brain cell growth will be stimulated.

This thinking cap was developed after a study at the University of Sunderland which found infra-red light can reverse memory loss in mice.

The team says that currently all anyone can do with dementia is to slow down the rate of decay, but this thinking cap will not only stop that rate of decay but partially reverse it.

Low level infra-red red is thought to stimulate the growth of cells of all types of tissue and encourage their repair. It is able to penetrate the skin and even get through the skull.  This is important to understand because we age because our cells lose the desire to regenerate and repair themselves. This ultimately results in cell death and decline of the organ functions - for the brain resulting in memory decay and deterioration in general intellectual performance.  Now we are told there is a technology (not a drug) that told the cells to repair themselves and that technology is something as simple as a specific wavelength of light.

This study at Sunderland is amazing.  By exposing middle-aged mice to infrared light for six minutes a day for ten days improved their performance in a three-dimensional maze. In the human trials, due to start this summer, the scientists will use levels of infra-red that occur naturally in sunlight.

If this is right, then maybe we all need to be exposing our bodies to infrared light everyday.

Now they are just now replacing the lab mice with human trials, which reminds me of the old joke that scientist were going to replace lab mice with lawyers because (1) there are more lawyers than lab mice, (2) there are somethings that mice just will not do, and (3) some people get attached to mice.

All jokes aside, this is an interesting development because what it really says it that we should all be outside in the sun, buck-ass naked, a little everyday.
