: Chuck NewtonDo My Eyes Decieve Me - ABC Lists Blogging As A Painful Profession
By Chuck Newton
I am a blogger, so that must make me a daredevil, a risk taker, a person will to jeopardizes my health and safety for the sake of a profession. Indiana Jones must have nothing on me.
You can check it out for yourselves. ABC News lists blogging as one of the top 10 Painful Professions. Of course, somebody had to blog this list. It is number 7 on the list behind cops, fire fighters, truck
drivers, pilots, and musicians.
Sean Conroy, director of pain management services at Beaumont Hospitals, said bloggers are the extreme version of any administrative work that requires using a computer because bloggers spend more time locked in one place.
"Blogging has made me less healthy," said Kim Stagliano, managing editor of the blog Age of Autism. She said that as a result of blogging that said she drinks more coffee and lost weight because she does not eat full meals during the day. "My eyes get buggy, and I have to take a walk to get away sometimes."
My eyes get buggy too.
I guess what the post does not cover well is that carpal tunnel syndrome is a real possibility.
It is discomforting to me, however, that stuntmen are after bloggers, as number 8, on the list. Now I know that being a blogger has to be more painful than being a stuntman. According to Joseph Guettler, an orthopedic surgeon at Beaumont Hospitals, with time stuntmen become much more desensitized to pain than people who rarely submit themselves to hazardous situations (LIKE BLOGGING!!!). I guess bloggers are higher on the list than stuntmen because we are just wusses who have not become desensitized to our pain. We ain't desensitized to nothin', honey child. We complain about everythin', and don't you forget it!
And, of course, blogging is more painful than is construction work, being a nurses aides or a ballet dancers.
